BIOGRAPHY

Born and raised in Durban, South Africa by parents Krish & Poonie Rengasamy, Wayne took a keen interest in music at the age of 13. Being a self taught musician, he chased after his dreams of one day being able to share the stage with National and International artist. Being a Pastors kid, he was very much involved in church, serving God faithfully.

Over the years, Wayne started to see his dreams become a reality when he shared stages with international artist such as Alvin Slaughter, VaShawn Mitchell, Byron Cage, Derrick Horne and In 2009, Wayne and his band were curtain raisers for Israel Houghton. In 2013, Wayne was Music Director for Ron Kenoly and played along side musical legend, Tom Brooks. Wayne also found favor with some of our countries gospel icons namely, Ernie Smith, Janine Price, Vinson Bones, Julius Schultz, Lionel and Lyndon Peterson, Pieter Mcarthy, Neville D and Shaun P. 

Taking his music to the next level, Wayne decided to go into the world of music production and from 2009 to 2015, Wayne has produced 6 albums. Building relationships along the way, Wayne had partnered up with Shaun P, building a great friendship and after many years working together, he then went on to produce Shaun P’s “Everyday of my Life” album, which had been signed up by Integrity Music and later taken over by Universal Records. Shaun went on to win a Crown Gospel award for Best Newcomer. Wayne didn’t stop there, but partnered with Shaun P once again producing “Channel of Blessing” which now has an International contract with Dream/Capitol Records. Wayne was nominated for Best Gospel Producer 2015 at the Crown Gospel Awards and went on to win the award for Best Gospel Producer.

In 2016 Wayne had decided to follow his heart and the call of God open his life and record his debut album, Holy Are You Lord, which will be released in 2016. Featuring artist such Shaun P, Janine Price, Vinson Bones, Richard Mtsweni, Timothy Johnson (USA) Darius Pimpleton (USA), Harmony House. Wayne has also included amongst features, Pastor John Torrens, senior pastor of Durban Christian Centre, were Wayne is currently the Music Director. Wayne has put together a group of musicians for the album who are also his very close friends, namely, Kevin Rengasamy – Bass (brother) Alwyn John Singh (Co Producer/Drums) Noel Beharie – Drums, Donavan Jacob – Drums, Jared Chetty – Drums, Shyane Kistensamy – Guitar, Jarred James –Guitar.

Wayne is currently the Music Director serving at Durban Christian Centre under the leadership pastors John and Joy Torrens.

In 2017, Wayne produced an album for Durban Christian Centre, entitled "OVERFLOW" that received 2 nominations at the Crown Gospel Music Awards, which then later went on to win "Best Rock Gospel Album"

In 2018, Wayne produced another album for DCC entitled "FORWARD" that also received 2 nominations for Best Rock Gospel Album & Best Gospel Album at the Crown Gospel Music Awards.
